In 2016, Wroclaw, together with San Sebastian - Donostia, a Spanish city, will carry the title of European Capital of Culture.

    The Selection Panel set up for the selection of the European Capital of Culture 2016 debated on 20th -21st June 2011 in Warsaw. The purpose of the meeting was the final screening of candidate cities for the title, who responded to the call for applications announced by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage on 9th November 2009.

  • II Stage Of The Competition For The Title "European Capital Of Culture"


    II stage of the competition for the title “European Capital of Culture” will be held on 20th-21st June 2011. Final selection will take place in the Łazienki Królewskie Museum in Warsaw. After the second stage of the competition, on June 21st at 4 PM during the press conference at Stara Pomarańczarnia in Łazienki Królewskie we will know the city that will be nominated for the title “European Capital of Culture”.

  • Call for applications for competition to the title “European Capital of Culture 2016” has ended


    The 16th of May 2011 was the deadline for submitting the applications for the final selection of the contest for the “European Capital of Culture 2016” title. All pre-selected candidate cities, i.e. Gdańsk, Katowice, Lublin, Warszawa and Wrocław have submitted their applications on time.
