Promoting Polish culture abroad falls within the competence of the Department of International Relations. The primary tasks of the Department is to coordinate Poland’s international cooperation in terms of the promotion of Polish culture in the international arena and the promotion of Poland through its culture as well as to guarantee Poland’s continuing and significant participation in both processes of European integration and in the international dialogue held not only by the EU member states, but also on the European Union-Third Countries plane. Within the competence of the Department of International Relations lies also the supervision of the institutions directly subordinate to the Minister of Culture and National Heritage: the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the International Cultural Centre. From June 2010, the Department of International Relations has also been coordinating works related to the establishment of the Centre for Polish-Russian Dialogue and Understanding.
